     This cemetery was in an old Indian settlement; the sexton's house burned and the books with it. Some stones were unreadable and there is a probability of some unmarked graves The area this cemetery serves was near the Canadian Settlement of Keene Twp., Ionia Co, MI. This Canadian Settlement was founded by James Monks in 1836. See the 1941 History of Saranac.
