John Osborn died at his home in West Campbell Tuesday, January 18, 1898, being nearly 64 years old. He was born in Orange county, New York, in May 1834, and came to Michigan when twenty years old, settling in Campbell township and has been a resident of this township ever since which comprises about forty-four years. In February 1859 he was married to Miss Berthia A. Linderman in Hope township, Barry county. Eight children have been the fruits of this union -- three firls and five boys -- one girl and one boy have predeced their father to the other world. Mr. Osborn enlisted in the war in 1861, in the 21st Michigan Infantry, Co. C. and served two years when he was taken sick and sent to the hospital in Detroit where he remained until discharged from the service. The death of the deceased was caused by cancer of the liver, and he had been confined to his bed since the 14th of last October. The funeral was held from the Congregational church in this village on Friday, and was conducted by Dr. C.T. Taylor, who was the attending physician during his late illness.
