Ionia County Project Volunteers
Ann Bessette - has volunteered to do lookups in the "Record, Ninth Michigan Infantry, Civil War, 1861-1865 (Published by the Detroit Book Press) for the men of the "9th Michigan Infantry who fought in the Civil War".
Cheryl Van Wormer - has transcribed several cemeteries as well as many, many Ionia County biographies that can be found in the Ionia County archives. She is currently working on the Portland Cemetery.
Cindy Bryant - has transcribed many, many Ionia County biographies that can be found in the Ionia County Archives.
Judith Weeks Ancell - has volunteered to do some transcribing for the project
Jo Ann Beachnau - has volunteered to do some transcribing for the project
Janice D. Sedore - owns a number of Ionia County resources. Check out her collection !
Leora Slosser - has been busy transcribing cemeteries
Tina Cook - is currently working the marriage index
Lisa Klutman - is currently working on the cemeteries in the Saranac, Boston Twp. area.
Teresa Sweet - has purchased the entire collection of the "Sebewa Recollector" and has begun to transcribe the index of this newsletter
Pam Swiler - the president of the Ionia County Genealogical Society has put in ( and continues to devote) countless hours for the project
Lori Fox has copies of the census pages for Sebewa Twp for 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880, and the entire Ionia County 1840 census. She also has the 1895 plat book of Ionia County. Lori has generously offered to do Ionia County "look-ups".
Kathy Laux, Hope Farris and Pat Billings are diligently working on the proof reading of the transcribed 1850 Ionia County census. This is really tedious work, and these people really deserve a big THANK YOU!
